I’m so happy you’re here.

My name is Alex Abbate. I was first introduced to yoga when I was 16 while on a family vacation. Although I wouldn’t start a consistent practice until a few years later, I’ll never forgot those first initial classes in Cabo. I found my dedicated practice while away at college. While I’m grateful for the experience in hindsight, my time in college was extremely difficult as I was recovering from both family and personal traumas which left me with crippling anxiety and depression. While I was in a big city living with friends, I found myself most at peace hiding away from the world and keeping myself isolated. I struggled to be myself and took on unnecessary stress pretending I was OK in order to blend in with those around me.

Around this time I developed plaque psoriasis all over my body. I struggled with this for over a year before taking my healing into my own hands. I changed just about everything about my lifestyle, I implemented healthy habits, and I was honest with myself and those around me for the first time in my life. I gave myself time to rest and to heal. With the help of lifestyle changes which included a daily yoga and meditation practice, my psoriasis fully healed. This was a defining moment in my life. I finally felt my own power!

I found myself back in San Diego soon after and immediately enrolled in my 200 hour YTT at RE:FORM Yoga in Carlsbad. I continued my training a few years later at Pier to Point Yoga and Wellness in OB, completing an additional 300 hours of training. Life has changed my direction more times than I can count. I hold so much appreciation for this practice that again and again has brought me home. It’s healed me, it’s given me comfort and hope, but most importantly, it’s connected me to my true self, and revealed my inner power. I’m forever grateful.

Thank you.
